Model: HAKKO FR300 220V Motor Specification
Issue: Magic smoke escaped.
I am trying to find a specification for this motor.
I also did a bit of reverse engineering for the motor circuit and it's attached below.
Hakko has all the replacement parts except the motor
The bridge rectifier (S1WB) on the endcap PCB would suggest that the motor is actually a DC type.
This much is obvious, it's clearly a permanent magnet DC motor. It could potentially be 220V although I suspect it is lower. A lot of hair dryers use a tap in the heating element to power a low voltage motor through a diode, I don't know whether Hakko does the same. Odd that they don't carry a replacement motor.
Yes, it's a DC motor and has its own circuitry apart from the heating element section.
I've done a bit of reverse engineering and the schematic is attached.
Have you tried contacting Hakko?
I'd open it up, worst case you can probably rewind it.
Most of the time when I've had brushed DC motors fail it was the brushes or commutator that burned up but it's certainly worth opening it to look.
