I am looking to upgrade to a Thermaltronics 2000 series soldering station. I need to choose which handpiece and corresponding family of tips to select. Any recommendations about picking the S/SxP or P/SSC tips (Thermaltronics/Metcal compatible)?
It looks like both have plenty of tip options and I don't see any important differences. Am I missing something?

Then you'll need to decide on which temperature you want.
Otherwise yeah, lots of tip styles to choose from.

Yes. I would choose whatever style seems to be more commonly available.
K series looks to have the lowest price ($10), although the others only a dollar or two more.
