Something that cannot be looked at...

There is at least some R&S stuff.
What's "demilitarized" about them?
Hi,
'demilitarized' is a process that is supposed to make them useless.
eBay used to have lots of material, particularly from Israel, that looked like it had been in a garbage compactor or crusher.
There is probably a procedure for doing this that normally includes crushing connectors with a pair of pliers. It certainly includes erasing any non-volatile memories.
It basically reduces working units to parts units or scrap.
It basically makes stuff uneconomical to repair.
Sometimes companies do a similar thing for tax purposes.
The need for demilitarization sometimes comes through association. Example a normal screwdriver, that you can buy at any hardware store, can become a patriot missile spare, if it was bought for that program.

All the connectors look intentionally destroyed - the case lacks signs of damage in comparison. Just like they fill large gun barrels with concrete in military museums to render them unusable.

Ah, OK. I hadn't noticed that.
Definitely not an accident.
Definitely not an accident.
May be someone who used it, didn't know how to properly disconnect the cable from the connector and used a hammer and pliers for such purposes...
Definitely, such damage is done by vandals. Good equipment which can be used by amateurs is just destroyed... this is sad...
Looks quite harmless, similar to demilitarized guns.
A new receiver or some new BNC connectors and those work just fine again.
You should thank the guy who damaged the connectors. He was a smart person, knew that will be enough to get the equipment out of the door with minimal damage. Garanteed, any other Joe would go for the screen first.
In the UK we have the WEEE directive, what it means is that end of life/faulty test kit is acquired by a small number of companies who are paid, by weight, to remove it. It then appears on the likes of Ebay at moronic prices nearly all the time contravening Ebay rules which Ebay does not enforce.
