Hello,
I have different dmm's...Fluke 117, 175, 187, 189, 289 Flir DM92, Agilent U1253b and only at Fluke 187&189 got "distorted" beep sound when checking continuity.
Is this really real beep from this meters or it's something wrong?
I wanted to ask this so many times in the past but today, as i got another 187 and its same shitty beep.
I like to have same as i have on all other Fluke meters...simple as that 🙂
distorted beep ..... when you move the probes while they touch themselves ?
No..when you just put probes together or even short on plugs
It's normal. All Fluke 187/189 have the "chirping" buzzer. It's one of the few things I don't like about the meter.
For those not familiar with the 187/189 buzzer, check the Fluke 189 review by N8FDY:

yep normal for 187 189 ....
Yes i got from many its "normal" but honestly speaking for me its not 😁.
It's just annoying chirping sound which makes me thinking that measuring continuity is not right...but hey..obviously it's just me who not lke this.
Still wandering why is that only on 187/189 meters...
I don't have any data but I always imagined it was to make it easier to hear in a noisy environment.
(easier than a single tone)
Could be, but for me is strange and obviously im not the only one
love it .... hate it .... that's your choice, or simply change meter model ??
There was meter(s) with variable tone upon the read value ... Fieldpiece and some Beckman Industrial had it too, THEY where more annoying than 187 189 loll
the chirping signal come from the meter mcu, unless you find a way or hack the meter
i do have 189 meters. i could say i was a bit surprised at first, but i live with that, and it work well, sensitive and fast.
Agree with all what you said.
Nah...I'm using 175 for continuity
...was just thinking that will be nice to get same "ear pleasant" tone on 187/189
