• Hi All,
  
  Although I probably can easily do this myself, I am asking if anyone has replaced the internal battery themselves as the manual says that it should be done by the factory.
  This makes me think that I may loose calibration or other important data.
  
  Or am I being overly cautious?

  Welcome to the forum.
  What sort of battery is it? coin cell? tubular battery? voltage?
  Others will know good sources for quality batteries, but put your country flag in your profile for local recommendations.
  From posts I have seen for other gear, caution is the way to go.
  Most use an external PSU set to battery voltage while changing the battery, but to be safe you might also consider powering it from an UPS in case of lost power while the battery is out.
  Also ensure a good connection to the battery tracks, preferably soldered on to prevent disconnection.
