Hello!
I was reading the discussion about thermal cameras in
this thread, and I'm getting the impression that InfiRay / GuideIR has some decent products.
I am particularly interested in using their tiny thermal camera modules (e.g.
this one) in my projects, but I have no idea where can I buy them. On most sites like Aliexpress or Taobao I can only find consumer-ready products, not these bare modules. DigiKey sells these, but only in quantities greater than 50 units, which is way beyond what I need.
Does anybody know where can I purchase small quantities (e.g. 5) of these bare thermal camera modules? I'm assuming that they usually only supply them to companies demanding a large amount and wouldn't really care about hobbyists.
Thank you.
Why assume? Contact them.
I've had an excellent experience with Infiray.
FWIW I still haven't heard back yet, T+ 1 month from initial contact
You can buy Flir Lepton, and Seek modules from Digikey
Hmm, ok I'll try to send Infiray a request and see how it goes.

Yup, I found out about that yesterday... Guess I'll have to make do with those if I can't get my hands on the Infiray stuff.

some people here will also be interested in supply. whats wrong if he's offering in public? esp the hard to come by military restricted nonsense on consumer grade thermal imaging modules. its still better than spammers came and throw some unrelated garbage libraries of lexicons just to promote something non ee related such as penile enlargement oil. some other people see this thread may reach him as well sooner or later. and since some of the mods here are doing the same in their signature, i dont think its a violation. why make harder on a small business and newcomers want to do cheap free ads? how do you think they should or deserve to start? by paying 5 figures ads to google to stick small rectangles on top and bottom of this forum site?
I was in contact with DYT as soon as I saw a few offers of help from this DYT employee. I thought they could be mistakenly seen as Spam and that turned out to be the case.
The DYT employee is in Sales and was keen to not only promote their products, but also to assist forum members in their desire to obtain thermal imaging devices. In this particular case, I believe this was just a little bit of over enthusiasm rather than a deliberate attempt to Spam the forum. DYT are aware of the matter and confirmed that they would never wish to Spam any forum.
I have reviewed DYT products in the past, and will be reviewing their latest release of SpectrumOwl V2 thermal analysis software soon. That is how DYT prefer that their products become known…. Through honest reviews and user recommendation, not by spamming forums. They are a company for whom I have respect as they exhibit a professional attitude towards developing their products. Sadly they do face the challenge of getting the news of their products out into the Marketplace so understandably do make the occasional ‘News’ post on this venerable forum.
With regard to the nil response to enquiries about the supply of thermal imaging products…I cannot comment but I was not aware that DYT supplied raw cores rather than complete cameras solutions. They may wish to comment if they read this post. This was potentially over enthusiasm to assist on the part of the employee ?

flir, seek, infiray
all ok.
I never heard back from Iraytek (Infiray) when I used their website to contact them. However I did hear back when I wrote their sales email address. We had a little back&forth as [I assume] they qualified me and then I was able to buy a module from them. I am waiting for a test PCB I designed to arrive so I can start to play with the device. They also said they'd send me a dev kit but I haven't seen that yet. I think the procedure to get it is different than to get a core.
You could try using our cameras, although this does sound like an advertisement 🤣 but in fact, we are happy to discuss the differences between cameras, please forgive me if it bothers you!

So, if you're looking to buy thermal camera modules, based on my experience, you could start by shooting an email to the official contacts of Infiray and Dali. If you don't hear back within three days, just give them a call to place your order. Last year, for a project of mine, I ordered a small batch of infrared thermal imaging modules using this method.Hope it helps.
Oh hey vision datum, they used to have decent priced older gen SWIR cameras but not anymore
I need those ST sensors to hit the market already, cheaper than the Sony senSWIR IMX99X
I totally understand how you feel. Older generations of SWIR cameras were reasonably priced, but the market has changed. We are all looking forward to the ST sensors coming to market soon😊
