I would like to put a board level cut out in a component.. ( the purple layer ).. but i can't figure out how to convert the region to a cutout. How do you do this.. I'm using Altium 17.1
Don't have Altium in front of me, but from memory you want to draw a closed perimeter that outlines your cutout, highlight them, and convert that outline into a cutout by going: Tools » Convert » Create Cutout from Selected Primitives

This is what you do when you are editing a pcb, but it does'tn seem to work when you are editing a component.
Set the Region to a Board Cutout. I prefer to put an outline on Keep-out as well, or whatever layer you're using for board outline.

Thanks Tim. That eluded me for a while
