Hi there,
Could it be the clue of this video is in the first few seconds? Dave says something like:"Sorry for the quack, euh crap quality". A quack being a charlatan? He is jerking our pants.
Good one Dave.
Happy 1st of April! Greetings from Belgium.
I believe he did find it in the dumpster.
(April Fools!!!)
The site says April Fools, the forum says April Fools but for some reason I'm completely missing the joke here... Anyway thanks for a closer look at such a nice device, you definitely don't get so see something like this close and upfront very often...
It's funny how some of you guys just can't help the urge of letting everyone know how "smart" you are and ruining the fun for the others
I'm realy curios how Dave did get this one
Sniff sniff, I smell boolsheet!
Here's a couple of tells:
+ The rear housing screws were removed before trying to power on, presumably to introduce the supply fault.
+ Sticky tape has been added to conceal the windows COA sticker, but not the S/N (the roll of tape is sitting on Dave's shelf).
+ If I'm reading it right, the scope has only had one cal from new (June 2010). It seems unlikely a working lab would spend $300k and never calibrate it.
+ The test lead he cobbled together looks suspiciously like the main cable from an Agilent RF power rail probe.
Better give Keysight their demo unit back.
Also the clickbait gold. most unlike David.
Lucky "Bastage", I don't want to live any more.
Ah, it's that time of the year again.
Doesn't even have digital channels. And for the price of the probes, you can buy a brand new MSOX3034T. And it is loud. The Core 2 duo inside, is obsolete. Ultimately, it is useless, so I guess, scope torture test?
Nice find Dave....
As to what to do with it...
Talk to Pooch over at the Signal Path Blog, maybe Y'all can do some horse trading....
Nice find, altough I believe this one is not gravity compensated, maybe that's why they throw it away (?)
Is this an April fools?
He got me. I always forget that Australia lives in the future compared to Europe
Should have looked at the calendar before posting.
Isn't it traditional that dumpster finds that Dave doesn't want get given away....?
When I posted this ^ ^ ^ it was reply #25. Now its #21.
Some people have been recanting.....!
Perchance this be an early April first jape.
Perchance this be an early April first jape.
Depends on which side of the international date line you call home. Not early for Dave.
DAMN, just saw the date :-(
And I thought porn scenarios were FINALLY about to become real too!
Bummer.
Just imagine how carefully Dave put it in the dumpster before taking the pic and then pulling it out!
While on the topic of scopes like this, for the price they charge, the least they could do is include a top of the line CPU and GPU, along with some liquid cooling in order to handle a decent overclock. The screen should be 4K 120hz with 100% adobe RGB coverage, and it should have at least 128GB of RAM in order to also handle other useful applications such as maya and adobe premiere.
They should also give it larger 120mm-140mm fans for lower noise levels, and the buttons and allow for RGB color choices.
Or if needed, liquid cool the entire system with a custom loop leading to 2 420mm radiators, that way one side or the top can have 6 140mm fans that can run at a low speed to keep things quiet.. The other side can then get tempered glass side panels to show off the RGB case lighting.
Just imagine how carefully Dave put it in the dumpster before taking the pic and then pulling it out!
That was the thing definitely worth watching!
