Thanks for doing live shows, the interactivity is always fun!
I have a suggestion: To make your life easier, make the uStream chat window questions-only. I know you hate the idea of IRC. But consider if there was a "no questions, chat only" IRC channel. All us IRC fiends could look at it, but you won't have to. You'll just look at the uStream window with the questions. :]
That would be nice, but I think people can't help chatting anyway!
But yeah, a separate mechanism for questions and chat would be nice.
Dave.

I missed the live show but was going to watch it after the fact on youtube, I seen it up on the episodes list. I came back to watch it and now they are gone. I checked your YT channel and not there either.
I dont know if you were aware of this or not, so I brought it to your attention.
Can't wait to watch...
Chris
PS Adafruit only has 14 uCurrents left.
I set them to private. I want to upload the proper HD version with chat overlay.
And it's not the 300th yet
Dave.
Great, I didn't miss anything!
I'll see them when they're up.
Chris
I had the privilege to watch the whole thing before it went private. I'm going to watch it again when the HD version comes up
Thanks Randy, way to rub it in!
BTW your avatar and name look familiar, where are you from?
Chris
Dave
Is the date wrong on your home page announcement?
The time zone converter says that it should be now, well, done in fifteen min and I still cant find the live show.
Guess I'll just have to watch the recording.
Chris
Dave, May I suggest that you mount the mantis on the back edge of an approx. 40cm x 70cm piece of 20mm plywood or similar. Then you can move it to where you want when needed. The 70cm dimension should be long enough that the head with the arm fully down is still over the platform.
Hi Dave,
Very nice to see you back doing live shows. Although somehow I missed that announcement of when you would be doing it.
Would it be possible, in future, to email all forum members about forth coming live shows? I believe your forum software has this ability:

Hi Dave.
Busy watching your 300th Live Show now (Well, not live, Where I am they have only got a 384kbps connection), Some places in South Africa now you can get up to 4mbps, but at a price. I really envy your 16kbps connection.
Anyway, I posted this some time ago, as a way to try make it easier on yourself for your live shows :
Hi Dave.
I have been watching your previous live shows, and seen that you are using a Webcam and Mic for the Ustream Feed, and another camera and mic for the Video Blog recording. I have seen that you have to realign both of them when you are changing views, and also that the amount of cables, etc must be horrendous.
I do not know much about how the Ustream system works, but perhaps you could simplify things (and improve quality) as follows :
Get a USB Composite Capture device/
You can then hook the Composite Video and Audio outputs of your camera into your computer that you use for the stream, and set the stream to use the Capture Driver instead of the webcam.
This will let you still Record the HD video, as well as SD video being sent out to Ustream with the Same Camera. By eliminating the webcam and its microphone, you will make your setup less complicated, and will only have say a set of RCA cables from camera to pc.
(If your computer and Camera have firewire or similar, perhaps you could use a firewire cable and avoid the above usb adaptor, but I do not know if this method will work, ie the camera passing signal to the pc whilst it (the camera) is recording)
You will also know that what you see in the viewfinder is exactly what the Live Stream and the Video Blog is Showing.

Pete, do you have a relation called Nicholas? I used to work with NA kolbe, years ago.
Going to try again to download the YT video, got to 300M then flashgot gave up on retries......
Would be nice if LIVE events be made on saturday, so people in Europe could be there more often (especially that live events are rare).

The webcam is taped to the HD camcorder LCD. They both have about the same field of view.
The camcorder does not have cables, works fine on battery for over 3 hours and has the tripod.
It's not a bad solution.

Yes, I've been meaning to look into this.
Dave.
Hi SeanB
No Nicholas Kolbe in my immediate family. Perhaps he is a distant cousin.
I do know that there are 2 different groups of Kolbe's
