I haven't gotten much sleep lately because the PSU series is psychotherapy. Anyone picked up information about when the wait for next episode is over?
Kind regards,
Marius
If anyone hears anything, please let me know!
Dave.
Good morning Dave. Will do
i got your uCurrent. I am thinking about doing a teardown video
Wish you a pleasant day
M
Actually, my aim to at least do something on the PSU design today...
And by that I mean work, not necessarily a video!
Dave.
That is great news. Thanks Dave
We will be following u @ twitter
Kind regards,
Marius
I figured out all of this. It's Dave plot to stall the whole PSU project so much that everyone become impatient enough and build their own so that they won't bother him with more "when are you going to do another batch?" questions like they were doing this with uCurrent.

ROTFLMAO!
I bet if Dave was to make another 200 unit batch, by the time they are ready, they will again fly off the bench in a two week period.
As for the power supply, I am very intrested to see the "other" design idea Dave has that could be done sooner than later.
(Im)Patiently waiting for the next uSupply installment...
Whatever it contains...
Thanks Dave
Chris

I'm doubting that.
Next batch is 100, parts in, boards due end week.

I shot some footage of prototyping the DC-DC circuit today, but not much.
Yes, that other one could be done a lot quicker I suspect...

Quit teasing us then, out with it already! At least you can give us a "teaser" about the idea? Please?
Thanks Dave
Chris

Possibly.
The idea is simple enough, just like the current PSU design, but the devil is in the implementation/build detail.
I don't really want to start another video series on it and find that the physical implementation sucks... So I was thinking I'd do a proto board and see if it all fits and works as intended first, and then go back and do the detailed videos.
But if you want to know, it's smaller, simpler, cheaper, and even more niche than the current design.
Dave.
I was really enjoying the stream of PSU videos. Each time I get a youtube notification I cross my fingers it's a update!
Dave, I can relate to you very well with similar twists and turns in my project I mentioned to you.

Yeah, I took a risk with the PSU project, putting it out there before I had really thought it through and built a solid proto I has happy with. So not surprising when it ends up with those twists and turns!
Not sure I want to do the same thing with the other PSU design...
Dave.

The twists and turns are what make it fun to watch.
Agreed, The twists and turns have the highest educational value. Seeing the thought processes that initiate the twists and turns are a huge value to "young players" like me. Don't change a thing Dave.
expecially considering all of the build up then redesign shows us different ways to accomplish the same task, be it chasing accuracy, cost or size, or efficiency or practicallity
so far have shown us a good deal of the variety and i think thats why your non scripted shows are so popular, so i say throw stuff at the wall at your leasure knowing that to us guys in the forum (well a good lot of us) are happy to stick with it

Just keep doing what you do Dave, that is what has made you so cool to watch.
Back to the tutorials please?
Thanks Dave
Chris

Yep, but not so much for for the person making it!
It can be rather embarrassing because some things can be stupidly obvious with hindsight and a few more moments thought.

No need for any embarrassment!Sometimes the things you don't see are glaringly obvious to another set of eyes!
While I agree design generally works best driven from one mind. Peer review is an incredibly valueable tool when refining a product, with good ideas for refinement and inherent flaws being readily identified by others with varying skill sets.
Having the balls to put an incomplete design up for review, and revising the design based on sensible feedback can only be commended.
Forgive me if this question has already been asked. Has or is Dave planning to post the code for the uCs at some time?
Thanks

Yes, when I'm done, or close to done with it.
Dave.
I will bet money that Dave will start using the Tiny Gecko in the design to save battery life for the PSU.
Dave, is it possible you could test/review the quality of the DAC/ADC in the Tiny Gecko board you received?
Thx, Rutger
