Very honest price. Unfortunately I do not like that meter, I have one and I would like to down/upgrade to a 34410a
Why? I have both and the 34461A is infinitely nicer.
My 34410A has always had an annoying tendency to power up in the 1000V DC mode instead of autorange mode every so often.
It's done that since it was new, and I still hold out hope that they'll update the firmware to fix it someday. I bought the 34461A when it first came out and it's always just worked.
If you bought the 34410A new and with that bug you should have contacted the seller or keysight to get it fixed.
Beside that
1) Specs 34410A>34461A
2) I don't have to wait 2 months after pressing the on/off button
3) We have the 34410A schematics, which for me double the value automatically
My personal opinion. Please do not think or assume the 34461A is bad device, for $800 shipped is a good deal go for it if you need one!
yes the fan 34410A is noisy, but you can mitigate that problem.

Agreed that having the schematics is a big point in the 34410A's favor. And while the fan noise was obnoxious, it is easy enough to fix by adding a Zener in series. It doesn't need to move anywhere near as much air as it does, when operated in a normal lab environment.
Boot time was annoying when the 34461A first came out, but it was improved significantly with firmware updates. It now takes less than 30 seconds, which is fine. It powers up when I flip the switch on my workbench every morning and goes off again when I leave at night, so I don't much care how long it takes to boot.
I'm kind of surprised at how long it's tolerated that treatment, frankly -- at least 10 years, day in and day out. If/when it dies, it will almost certainly be replaced by another one from the same series.
That is not the meter. This one has never needed repair since I bought it new.

If you feel strong about that, let me know. When my refurbished -
hp-34401A was in storage half a world away, I acquired an Agilent 34410A in an auction of a failed battery start-up. Now I'm reunited with all my gear and don't have a need for both.
I haven't thought that through yet, but I'm willing to consider a swap. The '61A's display is cute.

Thanks I just got a 34411a which it will arrive in a couple of days. Hopefully it is not a lemon.
Regarding the 61A swap, my Ferengi DNA is concerned....
