I am trying to understand what Humble Bundle is. Never heard of them before. Sounds like you pay the money and they send you keys. If you choose to download the Sony Vegas Pro 14 or other packages and you use the key, that is on your head I guess.
Is there any reason to think you are buying a full Sony license? If it is not, why pay the $20 when you can get cracks/keygens for free if you are that desperate.
I assume if you are accused of having an illegal license, you do not have anything to prove the license is not illegal.

This site is legal. It's a charity thing. Companies donate there software and they sell it as a bundle with other software (games, programs and other) and give proceedings to charity. I have a lot of games from this site.

The Humble Bundle is very well known and as respectable as Steam itself. They typically have older or indie titles, but sometimes have very nice deals. It's certainly not a site known for dealing in grey or dubious keys.
Note that it's Vegas 14, instead of the new Vegas 15. That's very typical of the Humble Bundle.

It's the "Edit" version which is only 149$ for the latest version 15.

Oh well - I decided to give it a go. I know it is the previous version of Vegas, but $20 is a good price for the whole bundle. Humble could turn out to be useful. The Edit version of Vegas Pro seems to still be very powerful. It is only lacking some DVD authoring tools and some special filters and renderers by the looks of it.
Magix to seem to be happy with the key - I went to their download page and they accept the key provided from Humble.
The only issue now is all you get from either Humble or Magix is a 4.4MByte Magix downloader package for Vegas and it is hard to run on my PC. It is complaining about a connectivity problem and it then crashes. After may tries, I finally managed to run the downloader program. It could be that the Magix server is being swamped with downloader requests from this Humble sale.

Installed/Activated/Registered Vegas and Xara Web Designer and it all works. It does seem to be a completely genuine offer. The software is activated and registered by the author Magix without a problem.
I didn't have a decent video editor before so thanks for the information.

Again, Humble Bundle is a trusted source. How many grey key sites have their own Wikipedia page?

Just a FYI: If you have bought the V14 from Humble Bundle - you can upgrade to ANY v15 version with the key you get.
So you can save quite a bit if you are in the market for v15.

It is almost an unbelievable deal. For example, on the Magix website, Xara Web designer Premium is normally £194.96 but is currently on sale for £49.99.
That is just one of the items included in this $20 bundle.
For programs that can use extra content hosted at Magix, the bundle includes access to this content until Sept or Oct 2018.

I had a look. The Vegas Pro Edit 15 upgrade price is £109.00 until 20th Dec. To upgrade to Vegas Pro 15 (the non-Edit version), it is £164.00.
I am happy with my $20 V14 for now, but I guess those prices are a lot cheaper then the normal full purchase prices. The Magix website is a bit confused right now, so I cannot see the normal prices. (They reckon the normal upgrade prices are much more expensive then the normal full purchase prices).

Thank you for the heads up. I will evaluate Vegas and compare to what I use today (Pinnacle Studio). I hope the release 14 had a good selection of codecs and video formats.

The main reason I picked this up was for better 4k stability and native H.265 support

As far as I could work out, one of the main complaints about Vegas V14 seemed to be that they dropped the Dolby AC3 Pro codec for DVD surround sound audio. It was in V13 when Sony owned it, but Magix didn't want to pay the license fees. Probably no big problem for PC/Web mono or stereo encoding.
Do you not know what humble bundle is?
No, but it is not surprising. It has been years since I was into PC games. Do they regularly have non-gaming software bundles?

Thank you amspire and MatthewMorgan. I did a quick search for a comparison list but could only get articles and videos that talked about very specific features of Vegas Pro or the life post-Sony. I didn't do a thorough search, though.

You can choose where the money goes, either to Magix, charity, or Humble Bundle. For the lack of a better way, I just made all three the same. Thanks to the OP

I have the Sony ver 13 Vegas, what would be the compelling reason to go to Magix ver 14? The Dolby codecs are gone, ver 13 has a great number of video codecs, is the editting easier/more user friendly?
I like to contribute to charities, but I would want a reason to update my Sony Vegas to Magix other than "it is cheaper".

How about you can donate to charity
and it's cheaper!
If those dolby codecs are something you actually use then you make a fair point, but v14 is a major release, there was mention above that the key also qualifies you for v15, i'll be looking into that.
Nothing really in it for me by twisting your arm, but could end up regretting it if the deal passes and you miss out... or not.

Thanks for this. I'm actually a member but for some reason didn't check it this month.. the vintage synth and "stranger things" inspired libraries will come in handy!

That is for non-commercial use only.

Is that true? The Humble Terms Of Service say it is non-commercial unless the software's own terms of service says differently. In this case, it appears you are buying a valid full Magix license that is managed by Magix and is activated and registered by Magix and I cannot see anything in the Magix Terms Of Service (TOS) that restricts use or that would allow Humble to restrict use.
Here is a quote from the Magix TOS:
1. All deliveries, services and offers of MAGIX Software GmbH (hereinafter referred to as “MAGIX”) are made exclusively on the basis of these General Terms and Conditions and the applicable End-User License Agreement (EULA) of MAGIX Software GmbH, provided software and/or audio/video content (A/V Content) are delivered. These conditions will be considered as accepted at the latest when a delivery or a partial delivery or service is received.
2. Differing conditions of the other contracting party are not acknowledged unless confirmed in writing by MAGIX.
and this:
5.1 Software In principle, the Software may be used for commercial purposes. The only exception to this is the product "Web Designer" (not "Web Designer Premium"), which may only be used for non-commercial purposes.
As far as I can see, unless I have a written statement by Magix saying that the licenses I have purchased are for non-commercial use, then this bundle has exactly the same rights as any normal Magix license. As the Humble TOS states, the Magix TOS terms supersedes the Humble TOS. At no time during the purchase did I see any statement from Magix that would allow Humble to change the Magix TOS.

I think there is a upgrade deal from v14 to v15 at present, it popped up when I loaded

Hi
I am having trouble with this. Since this is a bundle there are several downloads. I started downloading the first one yesterday and it is about 40% done after about 24 hours. Is this normal or should I stop and try again or just wait it out. It is Music Maker and the size is 700 mb and is downloading around 50k/sec. My typical speed is 700k.
thanks
