I can start to see the pattern winning scopes [...] game is hard and rigged
I knew it! I knew it the whole time! The sweepstake is rigged!
There is only one more to say:
I will believe in the result of this sweepstake... - If I win!
(Citation, or similar, from the 45th President of the good hombres)
Has anyone here submitted a video for the "Test to impress" contest this year? I have done so on Monday, and Youtube says there was not a single view in the USA or Australia.
I'd understand if the videos get submitted to the jury later, all at once, but it looks strange to me that really nobody takes a look. Any views on your contributions?
Maybe I am just a bit paranoid because last year they published my video about a week later than the others. Reason was that there was some kind of difficulty with the encoding of my video, and I was not contacted even though I sent in the video way before the deadline ended...
"8. Winner Selection.
For all winners a panel of judges selected by Keysight will select the winner. The decisions of the panel of judges will be final and binding. Judging will take place on or about April 1, 2017."
From the Test to Impress -terms. So you will probably see a hit between April 1st and April 15th (winner announcement).
Good luck!
Thanks, Ollihd!
I think I remember Daniel saying (on March 13) there were a couple of submissions already, and he will share some clips of them during the rest of Scope month. For me, this implies that someone will take a look at the videos before April 1st.
So I still wonder - should we see some views from the US already, and should we suspect that the submission went wrong if there are no views? Any other contester here?
I just watched the March 13th video on youtube. (Scope Month Live (13-March)
@9.24 he mentions Australia competition.
How did I miss this? Or was he referrign to the eevblog dumpster ones?
But seriously, who holds competitions on a Tuesday? It is literally the busiest day of the week. That's 3 i've missed now! (i'll take the blame for the first...)
I don't think I can enter any of them, same reason too busy on Tuesday.
Lunchtime (ish) sounds like a great idea, until you take into account Australia's three basic timezones.
I haven't had time yet to take a look at all of the Test to Impress submissions, but be assured that we will watch and consider all eligible entries

I am working on my video entry now!
(kidding)
As we approach the 1st anniversary of the maiden Test to Impress voyage - I am finally dealing with a project that will max out the MSOX6000A 6Ghz scope in bandwidth and use many of the fancy analysis tools - real time eye, jitter, and all available digital channels to decode (2) i2c and (2) CAN busses for a new commercial product. I have also been able to do some slick SMPS designs including my first Polyphase boost and buck converters. The power app (with a number of specialty probes) got me into some advanced areas.
For those that remember the video entry, the goal was to move up professionally and that is exactly what is happening. The project I am working on would have been totally out of reach without the ability to test, debug, and analyze it. Just purchased the first 6Ghz probe - 3 to go......
Literally a life changing event. Go make a video.

Would you believe i missed it again... due to work. Resigning myself that i might just have to buy a scope like everyone else does!

Same and same. Was stuck in a very interesting (
) meeting.
Damn Australian 'game-of-chance Vs test-of-skill' rules. A chance draw would be so much fairer for everyone.
Is there a text list somewhere of the names of all the current winners for scope month 2017? Or is the only way to know by watching the Youtube videos for each day?
the videos are only getting a few thousand views... seems too low.
I'll say that the views on the videos don't reflect the quantity of entries. Also, we will have a final list of winners posted once we get all the papers, etc., finalized.

Hahaa, so today i got in to work early, prepared myself for entering the tuesday competition...
And because it's the last date, the final competition is on a thursday... typical
I've seen the "math test" that they have to complete for Canada and South Africa, it's trivial. I don't know the specifics behind the legislation, but no one is failing that test.
I mean, they might fail, but if that's the case they are certainly not the type of people in need of a new oscilloscope.

That's as expected by me
It's time to go buy myself a scope. Statistics is a "bad woman"
After entering 30 times I just now noticed that after the captcha it says "This field is required" for the phone number.
No need to rub it in, I'm an idiot and I will kick myself, thank you.
That decreased your chances of winning, but just slightly, if that will make you feel better
Without a phone number you'd still be eligible, so there's still a chance!

I don't think the form posts without a phone number... The stupid thing is that it only shows the message
after the captcha, so you think it was ok
Don't worry! I've entered each day but had no luck. Same as last year.

I know, odds are not that great, but I think it is just stupid to let you do the captcha and then give a (hidden, because you have to scroll down) error message.
It should of course show you this right after clicking the submit button, and preferably in
red.
Daniel,
I enter everyday and still I have not won a scope - and this is after putting your picture on my existing scope - what gives?
