They have to be using a Peltier element in the wrist strap. Not that this makes a bit of difference.
OK, let's run the numbers. I'll just do cooling, heating would be comparable. Also, I'm going to be generous and assume optimum performance from all the elements of the system.
So, they don't say it, but this is obviously a peltier device. It has a 400 mWh Li-Ion battery so 0.4 * 3.7 = 1.48 Wh. 1.48 Wh * 3600 seconds = 5328 joules. Peltier devices can, in ideal circumstances, shift more heat than energy consumed. Let's assume an ideal CoP of 3, so this thing can, again under ideal circumstances, shift 15984 joules across the peltier device before the battery runs out.
The specific heat of fusion of ice is 333.55 j/g, so the heat shifted by this device is equivalent to the work done by melting 47.92 grams of ice at 0C to produce water at 0C. So, it'll do the cooling work of, let's be generous, 2 ice cubes, one held on each wrist.
This, any arts graduates listening, is the power of basic (I mean really basic) science to keep your money in your wallet when shysters come calling with gadgets on Kickstarter.
I mean, their goal isn't even to reduce your body temperature significantly. The claim is that they can make you "feel" cooler / warmer by using the Peltier to produce pulses of heat / cold on the nerves near your wrist...
Marketed towards the same people who put their speakers on crystal pedestals and wear rings to cure arthritis.
I'd say, the concept is plausible, and they at least claim to have already tested it on over a hundred people.
So be careful judging it too early.

Yeah. I caught that too. That means if it works it could actually be dangerous because your body wouldn't be reacting appropriately to outside stimuli. You shiver and sweat for a reason.

Probably just tested the marketing campaign.
Great way to have 70€ less in your pocket and one wrist a bit cooler/warmer than the other.
I saw something that tried to implement a Peltier device cooler a few years ago.
It went around your neck. making contact with the sides of the neck. The area making contact with the cooling size of the peltier device needed to be both enlarged and the heat transfer between it and your neck, specifically, needed to be improved.
Also, because the Peltier literally gets hot on one side and cool on the other the fans needed to direct the airflow in such a way that it would not warm you or your immediate area.
However it did move some of the heat out of your body and into the air, for as long as its going. Because the area in contact with your neck was fairly small, and the slightly warmed air was exhausted right next to your head, the effect it delivered was minimal.
Also, I got the impression its rechargeable batteries were inadequate for the task. It needed to be plugged into its adapter/charger to stay going. Not surprising. Interesting idea, bad implementation of it.

Exactly, while this is a real effect, it is extremely localized. So it would only affect the wrist and maybe that hand but that's it. This is a total BS snake oil scam!
We should form a KS attack army to go and barate these bastards with real science!
It is really evil how people are picking things like this that they know wont work and sort of milking the public's ignorance of the science for dirty dollars. (or disreputable dinero)
Who will keep them honest if people like us don't call them out?

The idea has been tried before.
Getting it to the size of a watch would be basically impossible.
I've an idea - How's about developing a foot-operated engine activator for situations where your motorcycle has a flat battery?
Could put it on.. Well, go figure.

LOL, just get one of those old two-stroke bikes where you started it by pedaling it.
If their argument is that they want to trick the hypomagicamus, surely they'd want to stimulate an artificially high temperature when you're too hot in order to get the body to sweat more than required to lower body temperature...?
It's like a wrist mounted thermal grill illusion generator.
Reprogram it as a Dune pain box (on the wrist).
Alright, time to explore the comments for some idiotic gold!
