Hello,
I am working on a project where I connect a bluetooth speaker to an FPGA using the following component:
https://digilent.com/shop/pmod-bt2-bluetooth-interface/I am working to configure this device, and I am wondering whether the RN42 can support Bluetooth audio?
Thanks!
According to the datasheet (
https://ww1.microchip.com/downloads/en/DeviceDoc/rn-42-ds-v2.32r.pdf) of the onboard chip, it does not support any audio profiles in the built-in stack. However, it does appear that you may be able to implement your own profile using Host Controller Interface (HCI) mode? I don't know what that'd entail, but that would probably be the best bet.
It's not recommended for new designs and has Bluetooth 2.1, which is ancient. It's safe to say that this is a futile endeavor. Is suggest getting a BM83. Or an nRF5340.
