Hi,
Does anyone know the polarity of the Fluke 741B or BE9005 Battery Eliminator - power connector? I think I've killed a Fluke 741B Documenting Process Calibrator by trying to power it with a generic 7.5 DC power supply with the polarity reversed. As you may know most electronics equipment with a barrel type power connector has polarity of inner +ve and outer -ve. I have a (sinking) feeling the Fluke 741B external power (BE9005 Battery Eliminator) is -ve inner and +ve outer on the power connector. Please confirm. If I'm correct then can I repair this 741B?
Thanks!
I stumbled across 1 photo of the wall wart that showed center positive marking on the plastic. It seems that that info has been blurred out or erased from most photos I came across.
Port for BE9005 Battery Eliminator is center negative at least on Fluke 744. I guess BE9005 should be too. I've just tested my 744 with center positive voltage from a lab supply.
It does not conduct in that polarity. At least, no current was shown on the supply down to mA. I haven't tested above 7.5 V though... 744 still works after this test.
