As in the topic, the problem of a large number of adapters : NI GPIB-USB-HS
From software version 17.6 (NI 488.2) all Chinese adapters (mainly bought on ebay) are detected as not genuine.
So far the solution is to use software version 17.0 (which is also not available on the NI website).
But is this the only solution?
According to me, there should be at least 2 more:
1 - finding a module (entry) in the software which, after detecting an incorrect number, throws this error.
2 - (or even better) find the entry in the adapter's flash memory where the serial number is and change it
Has anyone tried to deal with the topic?
So far, I have not been able to find such an entry neither in the software nor in the memory of the adapter, most likely this value is encrypted in some way.
Although we may be able to achieve something together.
At first glance, I suspect to serial number stored in separated I2C EEPROM. NI in the recent version of his software put to the backlist the device whom EEPROM contents has been cloned.
The solution is to reprogram the serial number in the mentioned memory. If you have access to at least one genuine NI adapter, compare its content with the genuine one.
Reading out EEPROM without desoldering is elaborated on car radio forums.

Hello, is anyone there? Someone will confirm?
above firmware is ... no orginal SN 014F3A71
f..ck ... programmed eeprom 24lc256 (from original unit) serial no. changed in NI MAX but software still sees it as not genuine? WTF?
On a related topic, is Agilent (Keysight) doing something similar regarding fake (and even cloned) 82357 USB-GPIB interfaces?

What error do you get when this happens?

Proper solution is not to use bloated NI software in first place.
What do you suggest instead of NI-Max?
And what does GPIB Agilent Keysight "fake" look like? (PCB Chip) orginal & fake ? PICTURE PLEASE
NI insade are the same.
A fake for a start
#1 Doesn't have copper paint as a shield, and the copper is supposed to be seen from the screw holes in the plastic shell
#2 The serial number has been blacklisted
#3 working eeproms dump repositories somewhere

It's getting complicated to follow many threads as i needed an usb gpib adapter and was going with the arduino gpib route ...
