Is the only difference between the 220 (100MHZ) and 210(60MHZ) the programmed CMOS EPROM?
The IC #s, board layout, they are all identical. Absolutely no difference.
Has anyone ever tried to swap the eprom from a 220 into a 210?
One person tried the hack described in
this thread, but it didn't stick even with a full re-calibration.
Good question. You wouldn't think someone would have hacked probably the most popular scope in history...
I got a TDS220 eprom and installed on a TDS210 board.
The result is:
- Boot screen says it is a TDS210, not a 220.
- Boot screen failed the factory calibration
- When trying to self calibrate it exits the calibration procedure.
So the PCB has a 210 identification markup... now I have to find this thing...
maybe some smt resistor values ??
On a similar note, what is the latest known firmware for the 210 and addon modules?
Is it worth the effort to upgrade firmware to a later version if it was available?
maybe some smt resistor values ??
All resistors front and back around the processor block are exactly the same. I will investigate more. Maybe something around the acquisition block?
Anyone with a faulty TDS 220 or 210 board to sell? So I can put it apart and proceed with my experiments?
