Anyone knows drop-in replacement part number for higher quality encoder, to replace encoder used in these supplies?
They are real disaster....

Hi everyone,
does anyone know if there is an utility that could read, save and restore our RD60xx PSU settings?

I mean custom colours, screen setup, battery charging parameters, M0-M9 presets etc...

Kind regards

Unisoft firmware or Riden firmware? The first has more options, as it exposes (much) more of the settings via the modbus interface.

I am not aware of any read-made software that does backup/restore, but it is not hard to do. Best is to look ar https://github.com/ShayBox/Riden, and use that as a starting point.

Thank you for your response.
The Modbus register map provides all the necessary data for my application.
However, I wanted to confirm whether an existing utility or tool was available, as that would have prevented redundant development efforts with no added value.

Nice, thanks. I had parts of the schematics of W01 and W02, but this is better.

Just so there is no ambiguity to all that see this: W01 can be (re)programmed freely, but unless you have access to the encryption key of the W02, they cannot be (re)programmed. If you want to reprogram them, you have to replace the module with a ESP8266 (plus some cutting/adding) to make it more like the W01.

Unisoft, do you know of any means for finding out that encryption key? (just trying,....)

Nope :(
I have never work with this devices before.
Never work with Tensilica Xtensa core before, and didn't know assembler.
I am only yesterday, the first time, try to disassemble firmware from ESP-12F, as it have a protection from cloning.
So, I have to find out how to bypass it, and I did it (in posted firmware).

What about W02, have no Idea, how to get a firmware (decrypted).

I have tried to to mod the W02 version but it does not connect. I have removed EN and ISP from header. Reprogram the ESP modul on external programmer board. I did the mod from and flash from this repo. https://github.com/morgendagen/riden-dongle Attaching the pictue of my mod. Am I missing something?

Some small updates...
https://mega.nz/file/s1lHUTxJ#TMCqTGWBQ753QhjcnvQdSK52LZMYrijdSeJUzuhboNY

RD60062_V1.42.1p.bin (RD6006)
RD60065_V1.45.1p.bin (RD6006P)
RD60121_V1.37.1p.bin (RD6012)
RD60181_V1.39.1p.bin (RD6018)

Archive updated
due to small bug with flickering the power led while pulsating in standby mode.

* Bug fixes
  • Added display of the corresponding icon (instead of the battery) with the "Green Output mode.
  • Added support for a new WIFI communication module W02.
    Note! Configuring W02 module from RDFlasher will not work! (There is no way to config it by UART).
    Changing IP address from menu will not work as well (IP address stored inside W02 module, and there is no way to change it).
    IP address stored in RD60xx (and visible in menu), is used only for display on the screen, while connecting to WIFI.
  • Fixed: MODBUS Register 69 (Buzzer On) returned inverted value.
  • The minimum current limitation of 10mA for RD6012 and RD6018 has been removed.

* Menu "--- Battery Charger ---"
  • Duplicated option "Green Output"
    Note! Turning on this option turns off the charging functions!

* Menu Settings:
  • The new group "Screensaver" was added, into which all options associated with the screensaver were moved.
    * "Screensaver" - Sets the time of activation of the screensaver.
    * "ScrsaverBright" - Sets the brightness of the screen with an activated screensaver.
        Note: The value should be a smaller or equal to the brightness of the display.
    * "ScrsaverActive" - Allows to activate the screensaver when the output is turned on.
    + "ButtonsBright" - Sets the brightness of the buttons in the screensaver mode.
        Note: It affects only the backlight of the 'POWER' and 'ON/OFF' buttons.
        The backlight of the buttons: 'SHIFT', 'MEM', 'I-SET', 'V-SET' - turns off when the screensaver is activated.
        Does not affect the custom LED.
    + "WakeUpByON/OFF" - Allows to get out of the screensaver mode when press the 'ON/OFF' button.
  • Group (Date & Time)
    + New option "Hide Date" ("Скрыть дату")
    + New option "Hide Time" ("Скрыть время")
        Allows to hide the date and the time on the screen header.

* Quick Settings [SHIFT][Down] : Graph Window
  • + Graph Window: added AUTO (if set time as 0)
  • + Graph Mode: Average, Peak, RAW - (How to process samples)

* Suggestions:

When you connect 5V and a USB-serial device to TX of the dongle, do you see the device booting? It might be that you need to pull RESET and PGM to high. Maybe the text in the image https://github.com/morgendagen/riden-dongle/raw/main/riden-retrograded-dongle-schema.png is somewhat misleading: the BUTTONs are only needed for programming, the RESISTORS are always needed.

Also, are you sure you set
* the baud rate correctly (both sides: dongle and PSU)?
* the 'UART Interface' setting to 'TTL' or 'TTL+EN'?
* the 'Address' setting to '1'?

I have noted that with latest firmware on 1.37.1 on 6012 the power button led when in standby is kind of flickering when pulsing.

1n archive doesn't have RDFlasher.exe (only firmware files), in 1p I include it. You can use any other flasher software.

This RDFlasher.exe already more than 2 years old, I didn't change it.

Same issue here: Can not connect to wifi.
Model: RD6006
FW 1.42.1p
Dongle: Changed wifi module ESP8684 -> ESP8266 and made alle the recommended changes (resistors....)

Flashing your esp12f_firmware.bin was ok, no issue. Putty shows some characters during boot and finally "AI-Thinker... ready" or something. The RD6006 has found a W01 (green text), and that was it. APP: RdPower 3.0.3. Any idea what's wrong? Thanks in advance

Riden's firmware has a somewhat strange method of connecting to WiFi. There are alternative firmwares. For the "how to connect the standard firmware" and an introduction to alternatives, see https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/custom-firmware-reference-document-for-riden-rd60xx-power-supplies/, chapter 19 (pages 71 and more)

Yes, I know. I tried already this wifi firmware https://github.com/morgendagen/riden-dongle/releases. Ok, it works, but it is not recognized by the PSU itself. I can only access it with a web browser!? And the GUI is not so nice and comfortable. The positive: I know that the wifi hardware works.  :)

but it is not recognized by the PSU itself.

Have you set the interface type to "TTL"? To the PSU, it is just like a TTL device. See https://github.com/morgendagen/riden-dongle?tab=readme-ov-file#power-supply-configuration-requirements

And the GUI is not so nice and comfortable.

Well, that is something we can work on. What would you like to see changed?

And now you can use VXI-11, just like with any other lab tools.

Yep, I've set it to TTL for that firmware.

The difference between web browser GUI and App GUI should be clear....  ;)

Oh yes, Riden's own mobile app is totally different. The riden-dongle firmware is more geared towards making the PSU automatable, make it behave as a regular lab tool, and is therefore less GUI oriented, or usable from mobile. Just a matter of preference. But I will see if there is anything we can do to narrow the gap.

My version looks similar. But I can not see the two 10k resistors from 3.3V to RESET and IO0/PGM!?

Hi have added them later and i was still unable to connect. Then I have soldered back original modul since the new firmware came out for W02 support and am now using this one and it works.

I'm having a calibration problem. Even if I set the "Output voltage 0" register to 0000, I still get 0.556V (measured with a good external meter). With the 0.1V setting, it's impossible to go lower. Is this a hardware fault?

@UniSoft
You write to your WiFi module dump:

Now you can check if it is working,
connect with any terminal (Baudrate: 115200, 8N1), and send commands
АТ
AT+RESTORE (Reset to Factory settings)

You can try to connect to your Router AP
AT+CWMODE=1
AT+CWJAP="ssid","pass"

or lile this (if you want that settings was stored, and device connects automatically after start)
AT+CWMODE_DEF=1
AT+CWJAP_DEF="ssid","pass"
AT+CWAUTOCONN=1

So what should be the output/response of that commands? I get nothing!? I see only the typed chars. The module shows only "Ai-Thinker... ready" after boot.  :-//

it is normal regular AT commands, so answer will be OK, ERROR, ...
Your module is working, you got "ready"...
If you don't get response, probably you send it wrong...
AT<CR><LF> / "AT\r\n"
you need to enable appending <CR><LF> to transmitted text in your terminal.
