« on: January 27, 2020, 05:04:15 pm »
Hi, I hope this isn't against the rules.

We're looking for a good metrology engineer to help us get to Mars. Physical/dimensional metrology & calibration experience preferred. Programming experience (OOP) is preferred. Lab experience would be great. Quality experience would be great. Located @ HQ in Hawthorne, CA. PM me for details.

I'm gonna guess you have to be US resident for this, and you don't accept people outside of the US?

I had thoughts of joining SpaceX 10 some years ago, wish I would have!   :-+

Now I'm too planted to move.

Yes, due to ITAR laws you do have to be a US citizen.

Interested, sure yes, but can work? Not really. Due to that many reasons.

Sort of.  I'd be interested in the work (not this job specifically), but the hours are absolutely unreasonable, as far as I've heard.

Yep, I know a couple of people that have worked for Tesla and all have basically described it as a sweatshop (and what do Tesla and SpaceX have in common, hmm?). Let the kids fresh out of school with more energy than experience take on these kinds of jobs.

This is so true!  Every time I have been in there, I felt like I was looking over an endless sea of college freshouts!  I have never met with an engineer there who was older than me, and I'm not that old!!!

It will take >= 5 years though ... the position may have been filled by then.

I am willing to join and work any hours to help get your CEO to Mars as quick as possible. I am tired of his pot smoking ideas ,  so I agree to tirelessly work the chance to get him out of here.
