KICAD ERC Warnings
« on: June 18, 2026, 12:07:06 pm »
Hi, I am designing one of my first PCB boards an decided to do a water alarm that I found on YouTube - I got a few errors (image attached) - the video said i can ignore it (which I have) but what would change if I fixed this?

I think you used the netclass function (or similar) to change the color of the blue wire. Is that correct? It's a bit confusing because (thick) blue wires are also used for buses.

For the ERC violation, you can see a small square halfway the wire. This is an indication of an open wire end (just draw any unconnected wire, and you will also see such a square. Unconnected pins on symbols have a small circle) So apparently you managed to draw an extra wire in that location. There are a few different ways to fix it.

You can move segments one by one to see what's under it.
  • Move the line segments to see wha't under the blue line.
  • Use a selection box from left to right to attempt to only select the offending line
  • Use a long mouse click (approx 1s). A popup menu with the items under the cursor will pop up

Assuming it's actually a wire, not a bus, switch to outline mode (on the left side panel) and zoom in enough to see what's going on at the marker.

My guess is you have a fragment of a wire that's unconnected or something, or a wire fragment hidden behind the bus.
