Class 1 Earth Testing In Production
« on: July 07, 2022, 04:38:35 pm »
Does anyone have any recommendations for equipment to test the earthing of a class 1 piece of equipment in a production environment?
Ideally results will be stored automatically and traceable back to the serial number or some other way of identifying the particular DUT.

How do others do it?

Thanks,
G

So an earth bond tester? We use a simple pass/fail unit but the much more expensive ones will do reporting the way you describe. Any particular reason for needing that level of traceability though?

We used to print the test result for this kind of equipment and ship it with it, using a Seaward PAT tester, new models have barcode scanners, bluetooth connectivity, apps etc. You can define the suite of tests relevant to the product you are testing and then it steps you through it, logs the serial number etc. If you're running ISO or similar levels of traceability, logging that you have carried out the process and recording the result is the best way to make sure it was done and be able to demonstrate it was. We still use one of these but I'm pretty sure we've moved on from the hardcopy.

Hi,

Yes, I believe it's a requirement for safety approvals that the test result for each product should be recorded and traceable back to the item.

Thanks,

G

Hi thanks, yes that's pretty much what I'm looking at. I'm looking at recording the results in as easy way as possible while still being traceable back to the individual product.

Thanks,

G
