SMT550 machine, mounting problem
« on: March 12, 2021, 09:42:42 pm »
Hello to all forum members !
My name is Rodolfo from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
I recently bought a SMT550 machine with some positive expectations.

I am having a hard time learning how to put it into efficient and productive (and fast) operation.

I'm having a configuration problem, I think it must be something of that, in the assembly since it releases the components (turns off the suction) before positioning them. Result: it practically spits them out before positioning them as it should.

I did a test at low speed and the error is very clear.
I think the feeder configuration is correct.

Can someone help me with this and exchange experiences?
Thanks to all  in advance.

Rodolfo.

Where did it drop the components? Looks like the PCB height setting. You can set them by having each nozzle touching the PCB.

Hello 48X24X48X, thank you for your answer.
I will check the (mounting) heights again, taking your advice.

Do you know how exactly the data in the fields of the feeders setup menu work?
(Attached is a photo and a low speed video).

Very thanks !

From the video it looks like your mount height is not properly set. So it drop the components before actually reaching the correct height. By right, it shouldn't be that much of big gap unless it is not calibrated properly before send to you. Usually it can be set for all head under device settings. But you can also set from that particular setting. Move the head to the PCB and lower down the nozzle of interest (in this case nozzle 1) until it just touches the PCB. Click save -H under mount height. The offset values are used instead if you decide to use the generate mount height feature itself. The pick and place delay is just the delay between the 2 process, I have never touch it since day 1. Your software is probably v6.7. I'm already on v8.0 but as you bought the machine from YX, I'm not sure whether it is already offered to their customers.

Right, it is dropping the part a few mm above the board.  And, the nozzle blow-off may shoot it some random distance.  The machine needs to "plant" the part into the paste before turning off the vacuum.  You don't want to "mash" the part into the paste, but you definitely need to press it into the paste slightly.

Ok Jim, you are right.
My height settings barely rested in the air above the paste. I'll take your recommendation into account. Thanks a thousand!
Rodolfo.
