Looking for a tilt board, prefer COTS
« on: April 10, 2022, 05:45:37 pm »
Hi - first time caller, long time listener.  :)
I need a board/device, to power a ring of about a dozen or so LEDs, that will light in the direction it's tilted.
So if I tilt the board forward, the 12 o-clock LED will light (and optionally the 11:00 and 1:00 LEDs will be dimly lit).
Think of it like a hat for a radio controlled hoverboard, that lights the direction in which it's tipping.

I've found the LSM303 Arduino board, but I hope I don't need to build this from scratch.  Seems to me there should be something like this I can buy off the shelf, or one that's prebuilt but needs some tweaking.  Worst case I might need to tweak/add functionality (e.g. a kill switch if it goes into a spin, or at startup, light the north-facing LED...) so maybe COTS and a little programming or Fiverr or something.

Any guidance is appreciated!

Maybe a microbit https://microbit.org/ 25 leds and a built in magnetometer and accelerometer.
