Amateur radio elevation rotor design
« on: September 17, 2026, 09:34:47 pm »
I am kicking around ideas to replace my Yaesu elevation rotor. My idea is to use the 1 7/8 aluminum rod supported by bearings on each end. In between the bearings would be a pulley 8-10 inches in diameter. The pulley would have a cable wound probably 3/4 of a turn with the free end going to a motorized jack screw. So as the jackscrew grew it would pull on the cable turning the pulley and rotating the shaft. Any good or your crazy ideas? Still trying to figure how to indicate the position for my controller? Thanks Mike
