Factory 2DW23x order aggregation thread

I have struck a deal with Shanghai 17th Radio Factory, who makes those ultra-low-noise 2DW23x Zener diodes. I can source those parts directly from the factory at 75 US cents each, and each order up to about 1500-2000 pieces will cost 5 US dollars to post through air mail. The factory also set a minimum aggregated order amount of 100 before they would waiver the $5 handling fee.
I am starting this thread so you guys can match and aggregate orders before I submit it to the factory. If you have posted an order here please also send a PM to notify me. I will send you a PM as well as update this thread to reflect the current aggregated order number, and if it managed to reach 100 at noon Beijing Time every Tuesday I will place an order to the factory.

Hello,
thanks for offering this opportunity again!
Would you also offer the 2DW232 as well?
It seems to have considerably less noise according to my measurements -
though this may be batch dependent.
Thanks,
Bertik

Hello Technix - can you post datasheet of 2DW232 and 2DW233 buried zeners ?
Can you specify website of Shanghai 17th Radio Factory ?
Thanks !
Flinstone
According to what I have heard from the factory, they don't have any websites or public individual datasheets.

@GYRO:
I read that thread quite carefully - Zlymex used ffirst 2 (out of 7) listed sources and paid only 1.6 RMB (0.23 USD) - genuine parts (diamond logo)
I made a vague statement that sources on TaoBao charge 1.7 RMB (0.25USD) - the sources I am referring to were provided by Zlymex.
Zlymex used the first 2 sources and received parts with diamond logo (= 17th radio factory of shanghai).
I just wanted to point out that some locals are trying to sell parts at 0.75USD and pay themselves less than 0.25 USD - easy money.
I will source those parts locally in Shanghai - this way we will be sure to source the genuine parts from 17th radio factory.
Any thing wrong with that approach ... ?
Flinstone
address details:
17th Radio Factory of Shanghai:
No.175, Dongjiadu Road, Huangpu District, Shanghai, China +86 21 6377 2411
(My highlight)
Frankly, I don't think that's the case at all, or technix's intention. I am not surprised that the factory would charge a higher factory gate price to supply parts to a 'member of the public' and charge a handling fee for such low volumes. Many (most) chip manufacturers wouldn't be prepared to do business on this basis at all. A factory charging a higher price for a premium quality low noise reference zener variant is not unexpected. Other members have also purchased parts from Taobao / Aliexpress with diamond logos only to find that the delivered parts were just re-marks of inferior ones (as is common practice), the logo is no guarantee at all (which is why Zlymex had to sample test them before shipping!).
The parts that Zlymex
very kindly supplied were very low noise, so undoubtedly from the 17th Radio Factory, however their zero TC current was way in excess of the generic datasheet value for a 2DW233: around 20mA (from my and others' measurements) versus 5mA. They achieve low noise as 'advertised' but given that they came from Aliexpress in plastic bags at low cost could well mean that they had failed a non noise related parametric test. There's no way to tell one way or the other as there was no supply chain traceability. Iirc, the testing that technix has done indicates a the zero TC current of the factory x233 parts is around 5mA. If that proves not to be the case, then people might then have some reason to question.
To repeat, Zlymex was a perfect gentleman in sourcing parts which at the time were not easily available to the community (based on the information available to him from Chinese language forums) and achieved the expected low noise performance. He was not however in the right location to be able to visit the factory and negotiate parts directly.
At the end of the day, it is a matter of trust for individual members to choose whether to purchase in this thread or not. If they wish to question the selling price then they should probably go elsewhere. You should undoubtedly go and do whatever you wish to do without recourse to this thread.

the testing that technix has done indicates a the zero TC current of the factory x233 parts is around 5mA. If that proves not to be the case, then people might then have some reason to question.
To note, the 233 has a more easily manageable TC0 current of around 5mA.
But according to Bertik's tests the desirable series configuration of the 233 (sourced from technix) has a much higher noise figure of 4uV p2p. This compares 0.5uV p2p for the 232.
https://www.eevblog.com/forum/metrology/ultra-low-noise-reference-2dw232-2dw233-2dw23x/msg1113975/#msg1113975To rule out any questions of provenance - this is likely entirely consistent with the influence that higher current plays in lowering noise seen across zener devices - including the ltz1000.
So as Bertik notes, there is quite some tension to obtain a reasonably low TC0 point and low noise at the same time. This is also why I felt it was useful to focus my experiments on a circuit design capable of managing the higher TC0 current point of the 232.

Would it be possible to get a small selection of each type? 10x 2dw232, 10x 2dw233, 10x 2dw234, 10x 2dw235 if it exists? It would be interesting to do some more characterization of each type. I can pay paypal.

Flinstone, I don't think it is wrong of you to source parts locally - good for you. However, others will not have the same resources to pursue this avenue directly.
Late last year I received 20 2DW233 parts from technix and I can't thank him enough for his willingness to do this.

I don't see the price listed anywhere, but I assume these are super cheap. $0.75 per + $5 postageI'm a little confused what the other ones are (the 2DW23x where x = 4,5,6...):
operating current, see other thread
https://www.eevblog.com/forum/metrology/ultra-low-noise-reference-2dw232-2dw233-2dw23x/Found the important bit for you:
The type number(2DW232, 2DW233) indicating different nominal zener current for this zero-TC point. For instance, the zero-TC current of 2DW232 is 5mA, the zero-TC current of 2DW233 is 7.5mA, the zero-TC current of 2DW234 is 10mA, and so on.
But in reality, there is not much difference. A device of any type may show zero-TC current at any value ranging from 4mA to 20mA, therefore, there is need to test every device for it's zero-TC current. It does take some digging I'm afraid.
Anyway, PM sent, for my order. Thanks!!

Thanks. My order arrived.
There seems to be a lot of confusion about with regard to the pinout... For the 2DW233, I'm finding that the common cathode is the pin connected to the case, and the others are the two anodes. Vz of each of the individual diodes is around 5.36V and the pair in series (i.e. between the two non-case pins) is about 6.17V.
But is each of the diodes exposed to the outside a TC zener reference, or is the pair used in series the TC reference?

I have sent them a second PM regarding this. Should they still refuse to pay I will cut them off the waiting list. In fact the tier you are in is the third (Finished List, Processing List and Accumulating Queue.) After the cut the unpaid orders stays in the third while the bulk promotes to the second.

I have placed the accumulated order to the factory. They ran out of 2DW232 stock and have a leading time of 2-3 weeks.
Unpaid orders are cut off from this order and remained in the outstanding list.

Just checking in here to see the status... The first post has the information and labels
PSD, but it doesn't seem to specify what each flag means.
I'm guessing:
- Paid - the user paid by Paypal or otherwise.
- Sent - the order has been sent to the factory.
- Delivered - the order has been delivered to the user.
It looks like nobody on the 2nd order has gotten their order yet, so I assume all is in order and nothing has been lost in the mail yet.
Thanks,
-tg

ALM good to see you back with us on the forum, you were missed.
My 25 arrived today after 2 months time. There is something definitely wonky in the China post to Canada post custody chain. Normally an order from ebay Hong Kong or mainland takes 21 to 25 days on the dot. I go many months without ordering anything but in the period from the last half of march to april 12 I had a flurry orders for various components from different sellers, all ranked reliable. Shipments from Japan, Slovenia and US came fast: 8 to 14 days and stuff from China after April 12 came in the usual 21 -25 days although one was in reverse chronological order. But I have 3 shipments from the "black hole period" still pending, technix diodes now crossed off that list. It is very strange. I am not out a lot of money so am not going to cry however it makes planing projects harder as I never know if something is going to show up.
I suspect Canada customs is now executing additional scrutiny on China traffic to interdict the smuggling of fentanyl and carfentanil pills and other drug precursor chemicals.

I am not sure about that. Things can get stuck in the customs for whatever reason.

Alright this is a big delivery and it will be VERY costly.
You pick them up personally at the factory? Have they asked you "what do you use them for?", do they also make other components?
Imagine asnwering to them "oh I buy them for people on the internet that have a bit of an obsession in measuring electrical quantities"

I do have a small stock, but not a lot of them. PM me for details of Chinese orders, as local shipping and stock handling is very different.

Technix,
Does the factory produce any other votlage rating buried zeners? Say for example 8.2V or 9.1V buried zener on its own?

I don't think so. At least it is not shown on their catalog they gave me.

For use as a precision reference, only a very limited voltage range is good: either about 5.5 V used as a zener only or something like 6-6.4 V to be used in combination with an PN junction.
Lower voltages would have to much TC and too much differential resistance and would thus need very stable resistors / current source. Higher voltage ones are usually too noisy. The low noise of the 2DW232 might be due to the slightly lower voltage, than otherwise typical for compensated zeners.
In theory one might use two zeners and one diode in series to get something like 11 V - but I have not seen that as a single unit.

Kleinstein,
Good information, well understood.
Reason behind the question is the temperature coefficient of a single diode, It is marginally too low for my needs.
I underline single diode not a combination of zener and forward junction.
Technix,
Please ask the factory whether they have a slightl;y higher voltage zener diode in buried structure device.

I received the 2DW232's about 4 weeks shipping time. Thanks to technix for this service.
I have some from Ali with Seven packaging and date/lot code "15-4", but these have no extra markings.
The can looks similar, stamped a bit wonky so I'm not sure what plant made them.
