HP 5328A A-B time interval
« on: October 21, 2025, 01:45:08 pm »
I have a 3528A. All the functions are nominal except for the A-B and A-B average.

History;
I recapped the unit a couple years ago.
Recently I cleaned all the connectors, switches and pots.

The A-B function was and is still showing nothing. I don't know how long it's been defective it isn't a feature I've ever used until recently.

The marker outputs are functional and look good.

Before I tear into this further and create a mess on my bench, anyone have any experience, suggestions, ideas please?

Thank You
Mike

Is that model number correct? as 3528A is a very old current probe.

OK, it happens, you should be able to correct the thread title by editing the first post?

I'm not that familiar with the 5328A counter, I'm more interested in the older stuff, but I did buy a one some time ago, it has none of the options and someone removed the GPIB board, it's still waiting for me to replace the IEC inlet which I ruined during eviction of the RIFAs.

When you mention A-B, I'm guessing you mean the time interval function (TI)?

Probably would be useful to others reading to know which A/B input module is fitted, there seem to be two variants.

Did your cleaning also include the main function switch?  If not, I recall that it was pretty easy to remove the whole module and dissect the switch.

I did clean the main switches.
I haven't had time to do anything more with it yet.
Hopefully this weekend...
