HP ovenized oscillator list
« on: May 31, 2019, 01:21:09 pm »
All:

Does anyone know of a list of the various ovenized oscillators that HP has produced over the years, preferably with the equipment it was found in / compatible with?  I've searched as best as I can, but my Google-fu is evidently weak...

Thanks,

Hal

The attached pdf is the best document I have found on what you are looking for.  It probably does not fill all of your needs but it seems to cover the 10811 series completely.  Nothing on the 10511 series.  Look at the end for a summary list.

Thanks!

That was the one that I found that made me start looking in the first place - I thought that HP might have had that kind of thing buried somewhere relating to other series.  As it is, I have some things that need one, and some things that have one, but don't need it along with a few individual ones in the parts box.  Some may be a direct replacement, and others can be MacGyver'd to work.

Thank you again,

Hal

Hal,

In addition to the 10811 variants in that list, there are the 00105 variants like the 00105-6013. These were used in the early versions of the HP 5065A, HP 5061A, HP 5360A, HP 105A, and the "M" versions of the HP 5245 and HP 5248 counters. Also the 10544, 10544A, and 10543 were used. All of these are considered high stability. HP also used a lot of other crystal oscillators made by various venders but they for the most part were not considered high stability. The 10811 was retrofitted into the 5061A, 5065A, and 105A as the original 00105 variants failed and were out of production. You also saw a lot of 10544 and 10544 clones installed in the 5345 and 5248 (both L and M versions) as their original oscillators died. The 5345A and 5370A/B and most of that eras counters used the 10811. The HP 5071A uses a modified 10811.

Cheers,

Corby

Thank you!

That clarified something that I thought I remembered - for now, as I have the opportunity, I'll go back through the pieces that  I have and take pictures and notes.  For myself I have in mind a spreadsheet with Oscillator, Equipment, Pin-out with pics and other documentation.  Probably a summary on the first tab and then hot links to other tabs with the relevant info.  Basically a quick reference for myself so I don't have to keep doing the same work every time I wind up with a spare oscillator.  I will, of course, post any progress that I make here since there seems to be interest but it will be sporadic since I have *way* too many irons in the fire at the moment.

Thanks,

Hal

Also the plans for any adapter PCBs I make since the oscillator you need is never the oscillator that you have  |O
