Hello EEVblog Metrology Community,
I have been working on compiling a comprehensive directory of calibration and metrology equipment manufacturers capable of delivering products at the National Metrology Institute (NMI) level or high-end industrial primary standards.
While prominent brands like Fluke Calibration, Keysight, Guildline, and Measurement International (MI) are well-documented, I am finding it significantly harder to discover and map out non-Western suppliers, East Asian boutique brands, or small niche operations—such as those founded by retired NMI metrologists, specialized specialists, or companies supplying highly specific artifacts that aren't easily found via regular search engines.
For instance, finding high-tier Russian (e.g., legacy or active state instrument builders) or domestic Japanese/Korean manufacturers that primarily operate in their local languages has proven to be a challenge.
I have attached an initial translated version of the list I am working on to this post (featuring companies like Alvon Oy, Danisense, Tunkia,EM Electronics, ADC Corp, and Alpha Electronics).
I would highly appreciate your collective wisdom to expand this list:
Do you know of any boutique or niche suppliers providing primary/secondary standards (DC Voltage, Josephson Junctions, Quantum Hall, Ultra-stable Resistors, Ultra-low noise amplifiers, DCC Bridges, Thermal Transfers, High voltage, Impedance measurements, Power and Energy Standards)?
Are there hidden gem manufacturers in Japan, Russia, China, or Eastern Europe that deserve to be on an NMI-tier list but lack aggressive English marketing?
Are there any active shops run by retired metrology experts specializing in custom standard repairs or artisan-level standard manufacturing?
