The beginnings of my little metrology lab
« on: November 14, 2022, 09:40:54 pm »
Quite the week on eBay. 845 seems ok not sure yet with a Fluke 45 and cheap power supplies. The set screw on the range switch came loose so I’m hoping that’s all that was wrong with it when they pulled it.

335a should be here tomorrow. It appears to be putting out correct voltages against a 6 1/2 digit meter

My first pieces of metrology grade gear. I probably won’t go to 8 1/2 digits like some of you but I’ll see how far I can get on the cheap.

Have some lm399s and other parts on the way to build references.

Cal stickers are still intact on the 335a so it probably hasn’t been butchered. Will be interesting to crack it open and take a peek inside to see if the caps and anything else has been replaced. Been told it’s $100+ project and a lot of work to recap them.

I’m excited to say the least.

@RoadDog, exciting times indeed. The hardest part is waiting for the goods to arrive.
If you need any docs, just shout. Someone on the Forum will have a copy.
I have owned all of the above, all fine gear. You just need lots of bench space!

Is the 335 coming from Antarctica or something? (That's a stiff shipping charge.)

Congrats on the gear; hope it all arrives in good order and the case of TEA that you get is milder than your wallet can support. :-DD

Thanks! Yeah the shipping seemed a bit excessive but the fact that it hadn’t been cracked open and seemed to be in working order along with very positive feedback on his seller profile sold me. It was on the other side of the country and I figure he packed it very well so hoping it’s a good buy.

If you stick to 6.5 digits you can go far on a budget. Beyond that, costs increase rapidly!

This is music to my ears, my multimeter is 5.5 digits. So sounds like I should be able to calibrate it for a reasonable price!
