Cheap parallel PSRAM
« on: October 28, 2019, 07:55:15 pm »
I need 16Mbit parallel (P)SRAM, the cheapest one I could find from mouser are close to 3$ which is quite expensive (I think) - are you aware of any cheaper chips with 1MB x 16 or 2MB x 8 or higher (maybe from China)?

GOWIN LittleBee FPGAs have hard Cortex-M3 and are available with 32Mb of PSRAM. They cost about $2.00.

But I don't need the FPGA around it  :-//
Just parallel PSRAM.

PSRAM isn't exactly a commodity item. Repair shops and hobbyists are the only ones left who really want it. Don't expect anywhere near the same price per bit as DDR3L/DDR4 that's produced by the tonne.

I just found a module on Mouser which was released just 1 year ago, so pretty recent. I don't think new modules would be released if there is no market for them. But as I said, it is still around 3$.
Sometimes the chinese websites have old end of live products for cheap - but of course you have to know the name of that Module before you can find it. So I hoped someone has a "secret" part name

I mentioned this below in the FPGA Forum, worth trying the UK/Ireland distributor for information in English. GOWIN's Europeans Sales Office is in the UK.

The franchised GOWIN Distributors are listed here:
