Embedded systems software design books recommendation
« on: April 25, 2026, 05:07:36 pm »
Hello everyone!!

I'm looking for books about the design of embedded software, not the specific books that explain the timers, GPIO, ..etc but general software design, like how'd you go about planning the software design, techniques for better performance, sturcture... etc.

If anyone knows a good book that would be great.

Thanks in advance  :D

Github.

Study practices by real people cooperating. Find a couple famous embedded project and study their structures.
My favorite was Marlin.

There is no best design, there are good and bad practices...

For example goto is bad practice to use everywhere, but it is very useful some times.

'Making embedded systems' (published by O'Reilly) is a good book IMHO. It takes the reader through all the pros and cons of various approaches along examples. Very hands on.
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.
