Floating RST and BKGD pins on 'S08
« on: April 29, 2019, 05:32:44 am »
In the manual the connections from the debug header to the MCU are shown as direct connections. There are no additional caps, etc. With the RST pin though, wouldn't it be likely to pick up noise and cause unintended resets? Would a 100nF cap to ground be suitable? Would that upset entering debug mode? I can't put a cap from BKGD to ground because that would shunt any data flowing there. Also I presume that the pin used for BKGD will not cause trouble during normal operation because nothing else uses it in my application.

From FAN3335.pdf page 3:

The BKGD pin is a pseudo open-drain pin with an on-chip pullup, that is, no external pullup resistor is
required for noise immunity.
