looking for a drop in eeprom replacement for AM27C040
« on: December 09, 2017, 05:46:48 pm »
I am having a hard time finding a replacement to replace an AM27C040 with an eeprom. Have some old boards that I need to update the firmware, I don't have an erasing lamp, so I figured if I just find a eeprom replacement that would be easier. I am not very knowledgeable in this field. Thanks for your help.

You could try W27E040-12.
Also, EPROM eraser lamps can be had for a couple of bucks from ebay or local small ads.

I still would like to find one electronically erased since I might have to do it multiple times.

Please take a second look at the part I proposed. It is an EEPROM and not a UV-EPROM. It should be pin compatible and up to specs if I am not mistaken.

A generic replacement for 27c040, in flash technology, would be 29f040

The problem would be pin compatibility - are 29F040 drop-in replacement for 27C040?

My personal favorite is actually one of those SD-based flash cartridges used in certain game consoles. However still, pin compatibility.
