I'm looking clarity on how MATLAB and C language are integrated into automotive software development processes.

Consider a basic task like implementing a system to control headlights using a button. How do MATLAB and C interact in this scenario? Are we writing C code directly within MATLAB, or does MATLAB generate C code from models? Furthermore, how does the compiled C code integrate into the vehicle's hardware?

I'm interested to understand the workflow and roles of MATLAB and C language in automotive engineering.
