Should be fine. Is there more information on the chips - for example, a suffix to the part number that gives their speed rating?

Understand this is an old thread but for future readers, it is trivial to purchase an updated of such components to replace the older UV erasable devices.

For example, TMS27C64 (UV) can be replaced with the AT28C64 series - just buy watch the access speed of the component. That is, -15 = 150ns access, etc. - buy the faster versions when in doubt.

So you will have to READ in the old UV device into your programmer's memory -> select the AT28C64, etc. -> program into the new device and use.
