Reset for programming 328p
« on: January 13, 2015, 03:15:50 pm »
i'm designing a board with a atmega328p (uno) and a ftdi chip ft230x. originally i was just going to debug with the ftdi chip but i figured i might as well set the board up for programming with a boot loader. normally we program with a usb tiny isp.

what would be the appropriate way to hook up the ftdi chip to the 328p to generate a reset before programming?

For example, Arduino uses DTR line connected through a capacitor to the AVR reset pin. You can look up the schematic (Arduino Nano) http://arduino.cc/en/uploads/Main/ArduinoNano30Schematic.pdf.
