SG803A Microcontroller
« on: July 07, 2023, 12:48:17 pm »
Has anyone worked with the SG803A family of micro controllers as i need to reprogram a few million of them to re-purpose them for LIfePo4 batteries instead of lithium

This is the only website where I can see this chip. But no other tutorial. I think you can contact them for assistance: http://www.xyxlinc.com/prod_view.aspx?FId=t3:66:3&Id=175&TypeId=66&IsActiveTarget=True

Thanks i followed that link and converted to english but the chip it found was a multi pin device and the device in e-cig is only 5 pins
Here is a table of the SG803 family's microcontrollers:
Microcontroller   Pins   Program Memory   RAM   Features
SG803A-G   5   8KB   256 bytes   Low-cost, low-power
SG803B-G   8   16KB   512 bytes   More I/O pins
SG803C-G   8   32KB   1KB   More program memory
SG803D-G   14   64KB   2KB   More program memory and I/O pins

But i cannot find the device which SOT23 5 pin

What is a SG803A-G then?

The linked page seems to be a completely different product.

Its an e-cig controller built onto a pressure sensor

I inferred that. You gave a list showing it's a 5 pin CPU. Why is that not what you are talking about? Where did you get that list from?

This CPU doesn't appear to show in any simple searches. You seem to have more info than is readily available already. Where did it come from?

Yeah i got the chart from BARD and the info i have so far has been from the manufacturers who are reluctant to give me any further info than safety data sheet and a spec sheet.
Here is a list of some other micros i have found in other e-cigs but the same goes for them
1..RZC308A
2..S085L
3..SG806
4..TX818C
5..STS006B

IT MAY BE POSSIBLE TO RE-PROGRAM ONE OF THESE BUT I KEEP GETTING DEAD ENDS.

Are you sure this thing is even reprogrammable? That PDF doesn't even indicate it has a CPU of any sort. In fact it says it's an ASIC.

"reprogram a few million of them" - are these mounted, or you have large volumes from surplus dealers ?
As above, the data suggests ASIC not MCU ?

Many early tiny controllers were OTP, which also excludes reprogram.

However, you should be able to find a MCU in a SOT/MSOP that can do what you need

eg lcsc shows stocks of SC92F8378S10U  MSOP10   US$0.0644/5k  8k Flash with a touch controller.

They are all ASIC designed to be as cheap as possible and implementing the bare minimum to have a working e-cig.
The chip in the .pdf file you attached is an ASIC too.
They are not programmable.

About using them in disposable e-cig with LiFePo4 batteries ... I wouldn't do it, they seem optimized for LiPo's Vmin and Vmax parameters and LiFePo4 have lower Vmin and Vmax.

Thes mics/pressure sensors are currently inside returned e-cigs and we was thinking of extracting them and repurposing them in a new design which requires a differant footprint/settings.
It looks like as you all say its an ASIC device that cannot be reprogrammed so it looks like they will have to be shredded along with the lithium batteries.
I would like to thank all that have responded and look forward to contributing to this wonderful Forum.

You can also turn these to touch switch flashlights by connecting sense wire to mic signal input and a TP4054 for charging the battery (the ones from the vapes can be also reused and recharged)._
