STM32G474RE HAL_COMP_TriggerCallback broken
« on: April 07, 2024, 01:29:38 am »
I am trying to use a comparator on my STM32G474RE nucleo board and the external output gives the expected output when measured with an oscilloscope, but using the HAL_COMP_TriggerCallback function is just constantly called for no discernible reason, even if nothing is happening at the external COMP output.

I genuinely have no idea why HAL_COMP_TriggerCallback just gets repeatedly called at about 370kHz for no reason. This happens no matter what is going on at the COMP inputs. If I let the MCU sit and run for about 20 minutes, it stops being called randomly, but still does not get called when it should.

And where's HAL_COMP_TriggerCallback in that code?
Are you enabling any pull resistor to avoid noise?
Where are you resetting the flag?
You should add this to the callback function:

__HAL_COMP_COMP4_EXTI_CLEAR_FLAG();

But this seems already done by the IRQ code:
https://github.com/STMicroelectronics/stm32g4xx_hal_driver/blob/master/Src/stm32g4xx_hal_comp.c#L872-L924

« Reply #2 on: April 07, 2024, 04:09:44 pm »
HAL_COMP_TriggerCallback is in main. I accidentally deleted it from the code block while I was deleting some commented out code.

Code: [Select]
void HAL_COMP_TriggerCallback(COMP_HandleTypeDef* hcomp) {
  if (hcomp->Instance == COMP4) {
    HAL_GPIO_TogglePin(COMP1_Callback_GPIO_Port, COMP1_Callback_Pin);
  }
}
(Ignore the fact that some variables are named COMP1_xxx.)

I tried placing a pull-down resistor on COMP INP but HAL_COMP_TriggerCallback continues to be triggered.

The flag is reset in the auto generated (By STM32CubeMX) HAL_COMP_IRQHandler function, which then calls HAL_COMP_TriggerCallback.

__HAL_COMP_COMP4_EXTI_CLEAR_FLAG(); is unessecary as LL_EXTI_ClearFlag_0_31(exti_line); is called in HAL_COMP_IRQHandler.

I tried adding it anyway, but it does not solve the issue of HAL_COMP_TriggerCallback being randomly called.
