android lockdown?
« on: February 22, 2026, 11:08:00 am »
I found this

https://keepandroidopen.org/

SO they wanna tax and track open source. Ah how lazy companies are now, they just pretend they are the government.

Anyone notice that being part of any 'community' related to any kind of for profit business is like some kind of scam? Even company forums seem to have this problem (i.e. deleting tektronix forum). I am starting to think that hanging out with a company if your not a employee is a mistake. Its like cash is going in the wrong direction.

Look in to Android Developer Debug Bridge, atleast in theory connecting the phone to a computer via that method should enable sideloading apps regardless of what obstacles Google might try to create. In the long run though, the solution has to be proper x86 laptops which can run a totally normal Linux distro, but so small they can fit in your pocket as a phone does, with inbuilt radio modules to connect to phone networks and WiFi for data, and a high efficiency hold-everything-in-RAM-but-do-nothing sleep mode to get around the inefficiency of x86 chips for low power usage.
