It probably helps that the server upgrade happened on the same day that my 1.5Mbps ADSL was upgraded to 20Mbps VDSL :D

Ping times are basically irrelevant when measuring server performance. All a ping does is tell you how long a message takes to reach the destination and get back again. It doesn't tell you a thing about how fast the server processes a request. Ping doesn't even tell you how much data the network can carry.

Just play a multiplayer shooting game online for 2 days and you will be upgrading to the lowest ping ISP in the country.  ::)
"He killed me before I could even turn back. That's unfair!"

Now seriously I am having a problem with a BlackBerry phone which doesn't seem to connect to any server 50% of the time (when pinging a server, at least). And when it manages to connect, it takes more than a second to get a response to the ping from the phone. That means I have to wait 30 seconds for a bloody page to load. Even 3G is faster! This doesn't happen on the rest of my devices. This phone sucks!
