Shoutbox

Could you add a timestamp for the shoutbox? I never know if I can still respond or the comment was made a few hours ago.

The problem with this, which was brought up before if I am recalling, is time zones and related issues.

To adjust this request, how about just the comment age, such that this post was 2m ago, or 2d, or whatever. No more precision than the most significant unit (s, m, h, d).

This poor donkey has been beaten to death a few times :-)  There's been long(ish) discussions about time-stamping,
even been reversed. Not sure how far back the shoutbox scrolls, but it's all in there.
Maybe we need a shoutbox STICKY !!??

Edit: LOL, just as I posted this I saw "The EEVblog LIOVE show will be starting in 20 min" from the boss himself.
I take it back :-)

Yes, this has been debated before. The time stamp used to be there but everyone asked for it to be removed!
The "3 min ago" thing is a good idea, but that would require custom code. I do not know how to do this.
It only shows the last 50 messages, the rest are dropped out the buffer file.
The chat box is only a play thing, and not meant as a serious live discussion forum.

Dave.

But why not just add it? I mean what are the options that you can set and maybe we can have a vote then?

Personally I would like a time, and as Rerouter says it probably automatically chooses your own settings.
