solved: unsubscribe from thread notifications does not always work?

On the tariffs thread (and a few others) I've found that unsubscribing from thread notifications does not always work.

I've tried various things like resubscribing and unsubscribing.

If you have posted to a thread, notify/unnotify is not sufficient, you need to ignore said topics.

When you view either the "Show unread posts since last visit" or "Show new replies to your posts", mark the threads that you want to ignore using the checkbox in the right edge, then click on the "Ignore Topics" button above the list.

Unsubscribe works fine for me all the time.  Remember, you are unsubscribing from notifications per se.  It will still be you in your unread posts list.

Where is this checkbox interface to ignore a thread?

I don't see anything like that under any of the following

• "Show unread posts since last visit."
• "Show new replies to your posts."
• "Profile -> Account Settings -> Ignored Topics"
• Within the thread
• Within the board

(do I need to select a certain forum theme to get access to that feature? seems unlikely)

edit 2: maybe it's "Profile>Modify Profile>Look and Layout>Show quick-moderation as: Checkboxes" trying that ...
