Website bug modifying quote in a post.
« on: March 14, 2026, 01:32:26 am »
Dunno if this is a known bug or not.

(Note, I hit CTRL-F5 to full load the page to confirm this bug wasn't just local caching.)

The post in question 6213063  shows some text I quoted from SteveThackery

Quote currently looks like this.
Quote
My point is pretty much every timeline estimate is subject to pressures from various sources before it ever sees the light of day. I guess that might not make them lies, exactly, but they aren't really honest.

However that is not correct. (it's from an old edit i did)
If I click Modify it shows his quote in full, not just the last bit

Quote
Have you heard of the expression "plan to please"? It means planning the project and estimating completion in 15 months. And then the customer says, "That's no good, I must have it in a year!" And then what happens? You squeeze up the tasks until your Gantt chart just fits into 12 months. Customer is pleased. Usually this is under pressure from your own boss, who is more interested in corporate politics.

My point is pretty much every timeline estimate is subject to pressures from various sources before it ever sees the light of day. I guess that might not make them lies, exactly, but they aren't really honest.

If I modify again and edit my part of the post, changes are saved correctly
If I modify again and edit the SteveThackery quote part of my post then nothing changes at all.

No idea why this happened, all i did was delete parts of the quote that i was not replying to, then later decided I actually wanted to add that back in, and it wont save that change.

Anyone can see this bug by clicking "quote" on my post and suddenly extra text appears.

 :palm:

sorry, that was my mistake.

There is no issue, well.. there is, but the issue is me.  I messed up the quoting syntax and it lead to be confusing myself into thinking there was a bug. Have fixed the syntax and all is good.
