Totally agree an open-source license is the core part. For us, OSHWA cert isn’t about “getting permission,” more like a quick way to show we actually shared the files. Plus, the OSHWA folks at least cared enough to check them in a proper, non-profit way.
Kinda like a driver’s license: you can drive without it, but having some serious procedure to check makes things clearer. 😄 In the end, real tech folks and time will judge how open it really is. Well, I’m committed to work on it
