Alternative to broken Bode plot feature on Rigol DHO914/924
« on: November 20, 2025, 08:54:25 pm »
Dear all,

Some Rigol DHO900 series oscilloscopes (DHO914S or DHO924S) provide built-in support for generating Bode plots. While this is very nice, the plots produced by this feature unfortunately appear to contain artifacts and noticeably deviate from expected results. I saw in different EEVBlog threads that this is likely a software and not a hardware issue.

I made a simple Python package (to be run on a separate computer) that drives the scope and arbitrary function generator via SCPI commands, using NumPy to compute attenuation+phase shift. It provides results that better match the expected behavior when examining simple RC/LC filters (see below for some results).

Sharing in case it is useful to others. The code is available here: https://github.com/wjakob/bode

Thanks, I have thought of doing the same as I have the 914S, but you have saved me the effort. :)

Very useful, thanks for sharing.
There's also this one: https://github.com/tband/dho-remote for use with an external generator
