automatic shutter closing project
« on: August 07, 2018, 07:31:17 am »
Hi,

I was bored the other day, and decided to make a bypass switch for my shutter so that I can program my shutters to automatically open or close using an esp8266 (mainly so that I can shut it automatically just before the sun comes up). I did want the mechanical switch to stay operational though.

I made a basic BT136 triac system coupled with a MOC3021 optocoupler. This works just fine, however when I try to use the mechanical switch (which is in parallel to the triac) the triac seems to break and stays turned on... I have put in a snubber circuit consisting of a 39 ohm resistor and a 0.1uF capacitor over each triac, as the motor might act as an inductor.

Even though this started as a easy project because I was bored, I am starting to get quite annoyed that this isnt working properly, and I cannot understand why. Hope someone here can shed some light on the problem I am experiencing.
