 :-+ good idea.

PS. How about RGB LEDs with a programmable control board?

I tought about it but since we like orange color very much and is a lot peacefull then others we decided to go only with orange for this part of bed. Maybe and just maybe we use RGB ones for under the bed. I also have 2 triggering systems in my mind which will hopefully be realized :)

Thank you for your comment

Nice work on the imitation fire.

Tell us about the controls.    How do you turn it on/off ?    Are you both able to find the switch in the dark ?     Is there more than one brightness level?     Did you include a DaveCAD PWM, or is that version 2.0 ?     Are your LEDs running off AC or DC?

I have an idea for an LED alarm shuld you need one.

Hej ee851, thank you for your comment.

Bed 2.0 will be triggering system, Bed 3.0 will be either reading light or lightning under the bed.  At the moment it's simple plug and play thing like I said next is triggering on list. Due to fact that our room is small bed is pushed to the wall at one side so the controls will be only st one side for starters until we go to bigger appartment this year.

On my website I have described 2 possible ways of triggering LED's: first would be proximity switch that would be mounted to the side of bed from the inside, other would be little bit more futuristic which I allready have working model its with with help of an laser and photodiode it works quite well but need to figure out how to eliminate glow from laser.

Both would work in conjuction with another photodiode which would detect daylight presence.

Well hope I have described my plans :D For further questions feel free to write under or to my e-mail.

As for your idea ee851 I would like to hear it more heads together can bring only good things :)

P.S. Evrything is connected trough 5V voltage regulator (innefficient way heh) and that is hooked to 12V wall adaptor.

Ive always wanted to do this with the floor moulding for stairs and hallways, pointed downward, to show obstacles in the path at night in the dark.

Re: Bed LED light 1.0 fake sunrise alarm

Giorgios at pcbheaven.com shows LED projects wherein the LEDs ramp up brightness from completely dark to completely illuminated.    This is done using circuits with RC time constants that take seconds.    So brightness changes over a period of seconds, either from on to off or vice versa, and this catches your eye.

However, if you choose an RC time constant in minutes, the change won't catch your eye.    It will still change.    Your conscious mind won't recognize immediately that it has.   But your subconscious mind will.

This is a perfect way to use your high-brightness LEDs to wake up with disturbing your partner.     Use light rather than sound.

Put one circuit that ramps down your orange background LED brightness from dark to full on in say 3 minutes.

Make a second circuit that starts simultaneously.     This circuit controls several high-brightness daylight color temperature (bluish white) LEDs in the foreground,
shining directly into your face.   Let this circuit ramp up over the same period of time, 3 minutes or so.   These LEDs will wake you up.

I guess the first circuit is completely optional.    Add a kill switch that immediately shuts power to the white LEDs off as soon as you stand on your feet.

That's my idea.   Your alarm goes off like a fake sunrise, changing your world from darkness to light in six minutes.   Meanwhile your partner just turns and pulls the sheet over her head for six minutes.

Hmmm very good idea ee851 and thanks for link I will definetly check it out. Only small problem I see with your idea is where to mount those white LED's to directly shine to my head,  I was thinking of over head holder but thet would be in way when waking up. Maybe to opposite wall but that would require more brightness from LED's. I will consider it i really think it is smart way.

Thank you

You should wire the LEDs to much, along with the downlighting and music.  Then you could have the mcu talk to your pant zipper via infrared.  Used for obvious reasons :-+
