Bot alert...
« on: July 26, 2022, 06:59:27 pm »
I can see the moderators' inbox exploding with reports, after the current wave of posts from "parnellleaon". Hope they can kill that thing quickly...

Looks like a flight ticket scam, typically run by Indian scam call centers.

Umm -- where? Can't see anything suspicious in this sub-forum, or in the "all recent unread posts" view. Might this be a cache issue on your end? Or maybe the mods have already cleaned up after the next wave, in which case: Big thanks to the moderators!

Odd they would even bother. Nobody here is going to fall for such scams.

Odd they would even bother. Nobody here is going to fall for such scams.

I would suspect it is automated, so it just goes and floods as many forums, as it can find (of the right types, as in SMF and so forth).  E.g. With google.

Why get human intervention, to thoroughly analyse each of the, perhaps hundreds or even thousands of forums, which are going to be automatically attacked (or semi-automatic, if cheap/paid teams of people in some countries, are paid, to initially register, as many accounts per hour, as they can, for peanuts (little pay)).

Logically speaking, if they had scruples against wasting forum peoples time, they wouldn't be flooding forums with SPAM/SCAMs, so it would be relatively pointless to pre-screen forums, to see how likely they are, to succeed with each one.  Just flood/advertise on ALL of them.

May have been a cache issue, though I did reload the page a couple of times. No matter.
