BQ24079 resistor value help

I am trying to charge an 18650 3.7V 3500mAh battery with this battery charger IC. Looking at the datasheet for the device I am confused why they chose the resistor values for the pins and was wondering if it would be the same for any battery. Could someone explain how the values are chosen?

Read section 10.2 of the datasheet.
